As a Category Manager, Travel and Corporate Card, this individual will be responsible for the development of category strategies, supplier and negotiation strategies, sourcing work plans, and management of existing program. In conjunction with impacted stakeholders, this position is responsible for ultimate execution to established timelines and subsequent supplier performance and relationship management. The category manager will be responsible for assessing the spend and developing category and commodity strategies to unlock value. In addition, the category manager will be on point to respond to developing changes and needs in the respective programs.

Working with the appropriate functional representatives, the Category Manager shall focus on the following category and noted Commodities, including but not limited to:

  • Travel

o Travel Management Company

o Airlines

o Car Rental

o Hotels,

o Visa Immigration

o VAT Recovery

  • Corporate Card Program

o Travel and entertainment Card

o Purchase Card

Scope of assignment includes:

  • Ensuring internal & external relevant data collection

  • Category & market analysis; cost modeling & analysis

  • Sourcing strategy, negotiations planning & execution, contract award, & execute across impacted Corporate offices, manufacturing facilities, and Business Units

  • Contract administration, supplier management, & policy development for assigned spend

Working in collaboration with the applicable team members and understanding their needs and requirements, the Category Manager will:

  • Assess spend and develop strategies to create value for B&W

  • Provide supply chain perspectives to stakeholders, assure compliance with policies & procedures, and participation in all issues related to assigned categories

  • Initiate, lead, implement and manage all aspects of category sourcing efforts in conjunction with stakeholders including execution to established timelines

  • Support the identification, research and evaluation of suppliers that meet the organization's standards of price, quality, timing, service and reliability of supply (i.e. implement strategies that minimize TCO for B&W)

  • Interact with suppliers and internal "customers" to identify, implement and realize optimal value and performance

  • Support the execution and management of Supply Chain Management processes for designated categories to reduce total cost of ownership for goods & services while ensuring uninterrupted supply

  • Facilitate Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) efforts including strategic segmentation and supplier rationalization

  • Ensure supplier qualification efforts including diversity initiatives

  • Manage and enhance supplier performance through the establishment of KPI's/SLA's (contract content) and effective supplier and stakeholder interaction

  • Assessing suppliers' products and service offerings to ensure compliance with specifications and performance requirements.


  • Sourcing Strategy formulation, development and implementation including:

o Supplier segmentation

o Spend analysis & costing models

o SWOT analysis

o Local & global assessments of cost reduction opportunities

  • Advanced purchasing fundamentals:

o RFQ/RFP, bid analysis, supplier selection and award

o Negotiation strategy & execution

o Supplier & internal customer interface at "line" & executive levels

  • Contract development, management & administration

  • Financial Analysis & Project Management

  • Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), negotiation & diversity

  • Proficient in "Problem Solving Decision Making"

  • Bachelor's degree required (engineering preferred); advanced degree preferred (MBA preferably)

  • 7 years of experience in Supply Chain Management and/or Strategic Sourcing & Category Management

  • CPM or CPSM Certification a plus

  • Ability to multitask and adapt to a rapidly changing business environment
