Responsibilities : This position will be responsible for providing engineering support and technical expertise to the various Engineering Services (maintenance) teams at the Shanghai Disney Resort (SHDR). This position will primarily be focused on Ride and Show Systems. Initially this position will support pre-opening tasks in preparation for the ongoing operation of the theme park attractions, including but not limited to ride and show installation, testing and commissioning, identification of tools and equipment needed to support maintenance, writing safety/technical procedures, etc.
•Demonstrate a visible commitment to safety.
•Work directly with project teams on the technical scopes of the project throughout the final phases of design, construction, test & adjust and turn-over.
•Provide quality control support throughout installation and test & adjust.
•Assists in conceptual design and production design/drawing package in support of project requirements.
•Prepare ride element performance, finite element analysis, structural, dynamic, kinematic, and hydraulic/pneumatic analyses and calculations.
•Participate in design planning with internal and external entities.
•Assists in resolving technical conflicts, encountered with the design/drawing package, with vendors and shops to ensure conformance with design documentation
•Provide engineering recommendations for action, and suggest priorities for the resolution of attraction operational and mechanical problems.
•Prepare engineering test plans (e.g. Acceptance Testing and Operational Testing). Perform testing and writing test reports.
•Provide timely communication to management and Resort partners. Provide engineering support and technical expertise to the Engineering Services teams (maintenance).
•Troubleshoot technical problems and propose engineering solutions for resolution as needed.
•May direct the work of interns, designers, engineers and/or technicians.
•Must be willing to work evenings, holidays, weekends, and various shifts as needed.
•May be required to travel within China as well as to the US and other international locations for training, design reviews, manufacturer reviews, etc.
Basic Qualifications :
•Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering discipline is required.
•Post Graduate degree in Engineering discipline is preferred.
•Professional Engineering License preferred.
•2 to 6 years of experience in an Engineering position or internship (Disney Parks and Resorts Internship Experience preferred).
•Experience in system and machine design, hydraulic/pneumatic design, materials science, manufacturing processes, 3D-CAD, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and quality assurance.
•Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks or equivalent.
•Experience with amusement ride design/development preferred.
•Experience leading/mentoring junior engineers preferred.
•Computer and Internet proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
•Strong oral and written communication skills. Bilingual in Chinese and English is required.
•Team Player with good relationship skills.
•Logical and analytical thinker with the ability to apply engineering judgment to problem solving.
•Ability to balance productivity on multiple projects simultaneously
•Ability to apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular field of engineering to completion of difficult assignment.
•Knowledge of PLC or other machinery/process electrical control systems is preferred.
•Stays current on industry and technological advances.
•Self-starter with the ability to manage issues through to completion.
