Job Purpose:

To plan the serving details for banquets, receptions, and other social functions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Display good customer relation skills and take initiative to greet guests in a friendly manner.

  • Guide, direct, and motivate subordinates — Provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.

  • Requisition additional help as required by banquet schedule.

  • Direct setting up of tables, and decorations.

  • Plan the serving order and orchestrates its completion in a timely, quiet and courteous manner.

  • Direct wait staff and set up staff. Train all set up and wait staff. Ensure that waiters and waitresses are ready to serve meal when it is prepared.

  • Take the initiative to greet guests in a friendly and warm manner and ensure all needs are met.

  • Observe guests to fulfill any additional requests, to perceive when next course should begin, or when meal is completed.

  • Aid in the operation of the banquet department.

  • Ensure proper banquet check control.

  • Actively participate in room set up and service.

  • Inventory equipment.

  • Display awareness and compliance with security, safety, emergency and energy procedures.

  • Relieve banquet manager and operate the department.

  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries and unsafe work conditions to management; complete safety training and certifications. Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.

  • Ensure uniform and appearance is clean and professional.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Use judgment and reasoning to cope with emergencies such as sudden illness, accident, or interrupted service.

  • Perform a variety of activities, changing activities frequently and sometimes without notice.

  • Plan and carry out an activity, such as a card party or dance.

  • Plan the work of others.

Job Qualifications:

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum six (6) months experience in banquets or catering food service.
