Responsible for the overall stability, reliability, recoverability, operability, instrumentation and performance of the systems assigned to them.
Keeper of Sabre Compliance (PCI, PII, DPLS, MOS, Security, Disaster Recovery) for those systems. Will champion those initiatives and will work with other teams (Development, UE, Network, etc) to ensure systems remain up-to-date and compliant.
Responsible for coordination and participation in Disaster Recovery meetings and tests.
Represents the application(s) during Operational calls (Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management, Unsuccessful Change calls, etc).
Owner of capital plan (hardware and storage).
Conducts monthly meetings with Capacity Planning.
Oversees new App server deployment, server refreshes and decommissions.
Carry out On-Call rotation tasks as required by the business.
Responsible for responding to severity incidents, anytime, day or night, within 5 to 10 minutes of being paged.
Monitors systems on a daily basis. Provides daily health check updates. Cleanup & enhancement the alerting system. Resolve issues flagged by the alerting systems.
Responsible for creation and/or maintenance of operational documentation (E2E, Monitoring, Severity, Runbooks, Disaster Recovery, etc)
Responsible for Production Readiness/ Production Gatekeeper
Supports implementations, performs application checkouts, as needed.
Collaborates with Development Team to ensure new/enhanced functionality includes adequate operational capabilities and addresses roadblocks or concerns that arise during development
Identifies areas of the release process that can be improved with advanced scripting and automation. Works with the development teams and release managers to implement automation where appropriate
Create and/or review and approve application Change Requests (CRs). When reviewing and approving, will focus on accuracy and impact prevention.
Responsible for release and deployment of application CR’s across multiple platforms from integration through production
Determines and/or adopts recommended tools needed to support system health, monitor system performance, develop and maintain performance monitoring and error tracking operational tools.
Linux / Unix experience
Scripting Abilities - Bash, Cornshell, Kshell or Pearl
JAVA – basic understanding is good (no programming necessary)
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, in a very fast paced environment
Good Analytical capabilities & troubleshooting skills, during intense situations, where fast resolution is expected, every time
Good written and verbal communication skills
Good Multi-Tasking Skills are essential to this job
Experience working in a 24x7 fast paced Operational Environment (Shifts & On-Call Duties required)
General experience with distributed architecture and/or High Availability Systems.
Knowledge of systems with redundancy
Experience working with Remote Teams
Change Management Experience
Preferred Knowledge of JIRA and/or Service Now
Familiar with CMDB repositories
Experience with Runbooks
Nice to have Skills:
Basic knowledge and understanding of MQ
SQL Query Skills – basic Oracle or MYSQL
Experience with complex, high-availability systems
Basic knowledge and understanding of TPF
Experience with Capacity Planning
